Here’s your first look at the iPhone 17 Air’s alleged design

Months before its rumored release, a YouTube video gives us our first look at the iPhone 17 Air. The super-slim iPhone will seemingly feature flat sides with rounded corners and a horizontal camera island at the top.

The iPhone 17 Air renders come from FPT, run by a famous iPhone leaker with a mixed track record, Jon Prosser.

Apple’s super-slim iPhone could look like this

Multiple reports have claimed Apple will replace the ‘Plus’ model in its iPhone lineup with the iPhone 17 Air this year. It would purportedly feature a 5.5mm slim waistline, though the thin design would come with several compromises.

Now, Jon Prosser shared some iPhone 17 Air renders, based on pretty much the final design, on his FPT YouTube channel. The images show a sleek iPhone with flat sides and rounded edges. The device is apparently so slim that the “USBC port isn’t / can’t be centered on the Y-axis. The port is closer to the back of the phone than it is the front,” says Prosser.

Interestingly, the device may feature a horizontal camera bar at the top, similar to Google’s Pixel lineup. But despite running across the phone horizontally, it will supposedly only house one camera, with the microphone and LED flash on the other end. Previous reports suggest the iPhone 17 Air will pack a single 48MP rear camera.

Apple will purportedly follow the same design language on the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. The horizontal camera bar will be larger on the Pro models, though, to accommodate three camera sensors.

iPhone 17 Air will stand out for more than its slim design

While initial rumors suggested a $1,300+ price tag, the iPhone 17 Air could be much cheaper. The latest leaks point to an MSRP of $899, making the phone $100 cheaper than the Pro model. The slim iPhone will also stand out for using Apple’s in-house Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, replacing longtime partner Broadcom.

Last month, Pross claimed the iOS 19’s Camera app might receive a visionOS-inspired revamp. This will give it a sleeker and more modern look.
