Yes! You can create a folder for items that are to be deleted immediately, and execute this action with a shortcut.
Create a folder for items to be deleted
In the Files app, create a new local folder. Name it something like ToDelete
.
(“Local” meaning in the On My Phone location.)
A new folder can be created by tapping the “…” (ellipsis) icon in the upper right corner, then choosing New Folder.
Within the Files app, you can move any files you wish to delete into this ToDelete
folder.
Create a shortcut to delete them
In the Shortcuts app, create a new shortcut from the “+” icon in the upper right corner.
In the search field, where it says “Search Actions”, type “Get Contents”, and select Get Contents of Folder. Designate your ToDelete
folder as the target. Enable the “Recursive” option if you want subfolders to also be deleted.
Once again, go to the “Search Actions” field. This time type “Delete”. Choose the Delete action belonging to the Files app.
As for what to delete, select Get Contents of Folder (items we gathered up with the previous action). Important: Enable the “Delete Immediately” option since we are trying to bypass Trash.
The shortcut is done and ready to run! (Tap to run it.)
A confirmation pop-up will appear asking if you really want to delete the items.
Your shortcut can always be run from within the Shortcuts app.
By tapping the Share icon, you can add the shortcut to your home screen as well.
(You may want to rename it to something shorter that will fit under a home screen app icon.)
