I have two old phones (one SE gen 1, one 6S) that are locked to someone else’s Apple account. I don’t have the password to that account but the phones are mine. I’m trying to wipe these phones completely so I can actually use them. I found the Lockra1n and Passra1n jailbreaks and thought I would try those. Neither worked, but somehow during the process of trying to jailbreak the 6S I found that any time I plugged it in to my computer, it would immediately kick the phone into restore mode.
The problem is, now, I can’t plug any iPhone into my computer without it doing the same thing. I ran launchctl list
to see what background processes are starting automatically (I assume to monitor devices plugged into the computer) – but nothing related to these jailbreak apps seem to be showing up. I reached out to the dev but haven’t heard back.
I want to completely undo whatever these jailbreaks are doing to kick my iPhone(s) into restore mode. The message(s) that show up imply that iOS has to be reinstalled on the phone, but that can’t be true because somehow I got my phone to kick out of this mode and reboot normally last night. I can’t remember how I did it – no combination of holding down buttons or letting the phone restart itself seems to be working, but I am certain iOS doesn’t need to be “updated” in order to get the phone back in working order.
Anyone know anything about this?
