Dear Abacus Community,
Some years feel like a sprint, some feel like a slow climb, and 2025 somehow managed to be both, often in the same week.
But what stood out this year wasn’t the drama. It was the way people navigated it.
We watched families initiate long-delayed conversations with kids and aging parents about legacy and expectations (rarely simple, often brave). We saw people refine their planning and generosity with greater clarity. Many made meaningful shifts in their careers, including the underrated art of stepping back to create more space, sanity, or joy. And somehow, family vacations still happened with only a normal amount of logistical chaos.
Money has a way of stirring up a remarkable range of emotions, even when it’s been accumulated thoughtfully. If you heard that persistent voice this year saying, “Shouldn’t I be doing more?” consider this your official permission to ignore it. Progress isn’t about perfection; it’s about intention, reflection, and steady steps toward a life aligned with your values.
We are honored to walk alongside this community through all of it: through the questions, the decisions, the transitions, and the conversations that shape not just financial lives, but family stories.
As you look ahead to 2026, we hope you take a moment to celebrate the wins that rarely make it into year-end summaries:
- A conversation that brought clarity or connection
- A decision that brought relief
- A habit that brought alignment with your values
- A moment where you paused and simply enjoyed the life you’ve built
Those are the milestones that matter.
Thank you for being part of this community. We’re grateful to share the journey with you and look forward to all that’s ahead.
With warmth and appreciation,
Neela Hummel and the Abacus Team
